We're Ginetta and Deanna, sisters, mums, and the reason your laundry routine is about to get a lot less complicated, and your skin will thank you for it!
We're building Talk Dirty Co around our current lives, which includes our 9-5’s, day care and school drop offs, sports, naps and everything else that comes with raising a young family.
Ginetta went low-tox long before Talk Dirty Co existed. She's lived with endometriosis for two thirds of her life, and somewhere along the way started paying closer attention to what she was putting on her body and bringing into her home. With her endocrine system and hormone health at front of mind, she swapped things out where she could, one product at a time. Skincare, cleaning, personal care; all of it, slowly got the once-over.
Laundry was the one thing that slipped through.
It wasn't until our kids started having skin reactions no one could quite explain, that we went back and checked everything again, and that's when we found it. The detergents we'd been using, one marketed as ‘eco’ and ‘safe for sensitive skin,’ was still causing irritation. Turns out a lot of those labels don't mean what you'd assume they mean.
We didn't set out to build a laundry brand. We just wanted something we could actually feel good about using, on our own skin, and our kids', without the need to google the whole ingredients list.
So we made it ourselves. Literally, we made our own laundry powder, but after a while we found that our clothes felt a little greasy, and knew we needed to do something better. So we found, and worked with an engineer, and that’s how it all began.
Talk Dirty Co is our version of better: thoughtful, effective, and made with only what's needed. Every ingredient has a function. Nothing extra, and nothing hidden behind a ‘green’ label. Our sheets are 100% plastic free, no sneaky PVA.
Because what you wash your clothes in doesn't just wash away, it stays in your clothing fibres, and on your skin.
